Violin virtuoso Karol Daniš

On December, 2nd, Karol Daniš participated in the 42nd volume of the international competition NEW TALENT 2011, where he successfully managed to progress from the first round to the semifinals and at the same time among the best three finalists. 24 participants from 18 different countries worldwide took part in the competition. He performed in the Slovak National Theatre on Monday, 5th of December together with the symphonic orchestra of the Slovak Radio and other finalists from Hungary and Bulgaria where they performed together the first part of the concert by Ján Cikker: Variation on the Slovak Folk Song for Large Orchestra. The event took place during this year’s Bratislava Music Festival where the overall winner of the competition was announced.

The Competition was created on the initiation of the International Music Council (IMC) in 1969 and also thanks to support of the world known violin virtuoso Sir Yehudi Menuhin. Originally it was called International Forum of Young Performers IFYP/TIJI. It is organized under the auspices of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) with the IMC support. Since 2002 it bears the name NEW TALENT. Since 2003 the competition is held in Bratislava and its co-organizers are Slovak Radio and Slovak Philharmonic – Bratislava Music Festival.
