The Gipsy Bashavel
The children of the Divé maky program offered a showcase of all of their
talents. On the meadow by the castle they presented their paintings, played
theatre, demonstrated athletic skills, taught people how to dance, and treated
us to authentic Romany tunes. Visitors were also attracted to the culinary show
featuring Romany meals. The evening program exceeded all expectations. The
children of Divé maky emanated so much temperament that they got the audience
dancing by the end of their show.

This year's Gipsy Bashavel was the 1st Annual Open-Air Festival of Romany
Culture and Arts organized by the civil associations of PRO DONUM and Divé
maky. The event included a celebration of the 5th anniversary of founding the
Divé maky program. „We are excited that right there during the Bashavel we
managed to find new donors who are willing to support children in the Divé maky
program. In their performance our children showed a proof of their talent. They
are able to succeed once they are given a chance,“ said Vladislava
Dolníková, the founder of the Divé maky program. Numerous congratulators
wished Divé maky lots of success – their wishes written on lanterns of
happiness and desires rose up towards the night's sky.
Thanks for all the wishes that people wrote when visiting our Divé maky tent,
and we also appreciate all donations to support our activities which reached
6205 eur and gain from the auction of paintings made by children in the amount
of 660 eur!!!
Animated Romany-style entertainment continued with professional artists
performing at The Gipsy Bashavel. The Hungarian band Fláre Beás featured the
original playing on „tin cans“. The Czech band of Terne Chave performed in
the fantastic Romany energetic way followed by Slovenian jazzmen Imer Traja
Brizani and Amala Band. The final blast was a performance by dance groups Spin
vs. Creadance vs. Partia vs. Divé maky, and the Czech band Gipsy.cz.
